I was able to take this shoe for a 10 mile trail run. The shoe is great for foot support, and the extra sole that his common with Hoka does it’s job. However, because of the extra height, I’m assuming, I turned my ankle more than I ever have. I have not had this issue when running trails before. I will continue to wear these for my longer runs , but will be interested to see if the ankle rolls continue on my next trail run.
I have logged over 45,000 miles and worn out many pairs of shoes over the last 40 plus years. I’ve been frustrated for years over the changes to shoes. These Hoka Challenger ATR shoes are great. They have the support I need and the materials in the uppers are excellent. The fabric is not the typical “cheese cloth” that so many shoes use. I can pull my laces a little bit tighter when I put them on and the stretch in the fabric allows them to stay tight so I don’t have to keep retying them during my run. Great shoe! Please don’t change a thing. I’ll be back for another pair when these get 500 miles on them.
I bought these because I was looking for a moderately priced, semi cushioned shoe that would be good for everyday light jogging. So far they are very comfortable and don't disappoint, much like the last couple pair of Hokas I have owned. The only complaint I have on the comfort/fit is that the curved part of the back of the shoe that goes under my ankle rubs a little bit. It doesn't cause any issues and certainly isn't a deal breaker, but I notice it. This has been the case on several previous shoes, so it's more the anatomy of my ankle, and not the shoe design. The rubbing tends to go away as the shoe gets more broken it. I don't run a lot, just occasionally for general fitness, but Hokas have helped keep my leg joints from hurting as much after running. I can't say the same for several other brands of running shoes I have tried. Also, since I bought these shoes as last years model, they were on sale. The sale price on Fleet Feet was the same as on Hoka's website, but Fleet Feet didn't charge me any shipping. So it was cheaper to buy them from Fleet Feet than straight from Hoka. BONUS!
Great shoes ! with winter weather here i've been using these shoes on the snowy/icy conditions and they've been great. Love Hoka shoes
Nice
