Whatâs New
ASICS added their PureGel technology to the Gel-Nimbus 25, which increases shock absorption and is softer, bouncier and more sustainable than the gel used in the Gel-Nimbus 24. Designers added 20% more FF Blast+ foam and an extra 4 mm of stack height in the midsole. Plus, they extended the heel and decreased the heel-to-toe drop to 8 mm to give you softer landings and a smoother ride.
ASICS also redesigned the upper, giving it a stretchy knit upper that adapts to your foot for the perfect fit. There is more cushion and padding around the heel collar and a new lacing system to lock your foot down and provide structure.

All the cushion a little more bite!
I added the Nimbus 25 to my running shoe collection this fall and really loved it. As we're getting ready to transition into winter running I thought I'd add the Nimbus 25 TR to use on the days our dirt road isn't super icy (I have the New Balance Hierro GTX V7 for the icer snowier days.) I've been pleasantly surprised with the tread. While I wouldn't say it's aggressive it's significantly deeper and tackier than the road shoe version and for most winter runs I'd say it would hold its own.The feel of the upper and the cushion isn't changed by the trail version which is great. Would I stack them up against a dedicated trail shoe like the Hoka Speedgoat or the La Sportiva Ultra Raptor? No. But if you're looking for a great winter running shoe suitable for winter road runs this shoe is worth a look. If you love the Nimbus 25 and want a little more grip for winter you'll probably love this shoe!
