If you are a first timer at the half marathon distance or would like to get back to running and finish the distance, we have a fun program with experienced coaches that we think you'll love. Join us for 12 weeks of training designed to gradually increase your endurance and fitness so you are up to the test of the half marathon. Challenge yourself to run farther than ever before, or enjoy your run friends on longer runs as you train for 13.1 miles. Stay accountable with a training plan complete with daily assignments for running, walking, cross training, and recovery. Stay motivated, get fitter and have fun!
Cal Classic Half Marathon Training
Just Want to Finish | Complete your first half marathon
This training group will get you ready to cross that finish line and we will get you there as we gently increase your weekly mileage. We will offer fun weekly runs and occasionally challenge you with some diverse workouts. Whether you are looking for guidance on your first half marathon or are looking for camaraderie and a fun group to belong to, we are here to help.
Goal Event: California Classic Half Marathon
Duration: 12 weeks, two group training runs per week
Dates: January 7 - April 15, 2023
Days and times: Tuesdays at 6:00pm and Saturdays at 7:00am
Zoom KICKOFF: Tuesday, January 3rd at 6:00pm
We'll get you all the info you need to start training and we'll answer any questions you have at Kickoff!
You'll also have the opportunity to meet your Coaches and other participants!
Fleet Feet's team of experienced coaches will check in with you at every training run to keep track of your progress, keep you motivated, and give you individualized coaching and feedback. Training groups will have small coach to athlete ratios, so you'll have plenty of one-on-one time with your coach.

Your 12-week training plan will provide daily assignments for running/walking, cross training, strength work, and recovery. The plan is periodized to gradually increase overall training volume while offering opportunities for your body to build back stronger, week after week.
The camaraderie of training with a group week after week will take your training to the next level. When the training gets more rigorous, you'll have the collective strength of the group to keep you moving forward. When you crush a key workout, the group will be there to celebrate your achievement. And on those early morinings when you just don't feel like getting out of bed, the training group will keep you accountable.

If you cancel your registration for Cal Classic Training BEFORE February 5, 2023, you can choose between a refund of your registration fee or a credit in the amount of your registration fee. You can apply your credit to 2024 Cal Classic Training or another Fleet Feet Training Program.
If you cancel your registration for Cal Classic Training AFTER February 5, 2023, you will receive a prorated credit towards 2024 Cal Classic Training or another Fleet Feet Training Program. Prorated credits will be calculated by subtracting the number of group training runs that have already occurred from the total number of scheduled group training runs.
If Cal Classic is cancelled, marathon training will continue, if it is safe to do. If you choose to cancel your registration for Cal Classic Training after Cal Classic is cancelled, you will receive a prorated credit towards 2024 Cal Classic Training or another Fleet Feet Training Program. Prorated credits will be calculated by subtracting the number of group training runs that have already occurred from the total number of scheduled group training runs.
If it is not safe to conduct Cal Classic Training (i.e. the training program is cancelled at any time), you can choose between a prorated refund or a prorated credit towards 2024 Cal Classic Training or another Fleet Feet Training Program. Prorated refunds/credits will be calculated by subtracting the number of group training runs that have already occurred from the from the total number of scheduled group training runs.
Training fee does not include any race entry fee.
Dogs, strollers and children under 18 are prohibited Fleet Feet Training group training runs.
