Metatarsalgia: Ball of Foot Pain

General Pain Location: Ball of Foot (Metatarsal Region)

Causes:

• Inflammation to the ball of foot.  Can be symptoms of:
  • Morton's Neuroma: Swollen and inflamed nerve in the foot (between the bones and ball of the foot).  Often caused by wearing tight/binding shoes.  Symptoms include sharp pain and numbness.
  • Fallen Metatarsal Arch: Metatarsal heads may drop due to body weight or excessive pressure
• Overuse
• Abnormal Weight Distribution
• Excessive Pronation
• Tight Achilles Tendon
• Weak toe muscles
