Osgood-Schlatter Disease is a pain and/or tenderness just below the kneecap at the patellar tendon insertion on the tibial tubercle. It is inflammation of the anterior tibial tubercle (the bump located just below the knee on the top of the shinbone).
Causes:
- Overuse, usually occurring in adolescents that have not fully grown
- The quadriceps muscle (strong muscle that usually develops early on) repeated pulls up and straightens the knee and can cause the patellar tendon to tear away from the top of the tibia (Tibial Tuberosity)
Treatments:
- Short Sleeve
- Hot/Cold Therapy
- Ice
- Foam Rollers
- Roller Massagers
