Farragut Freedom Run

1 Mile - 2 Mile

Running in front of the Town of Farragut's parade is a special event.  Not only do you get to run on Kingston Pike, you run in front of a 1.5 mile stretch of the road lined up with spectators awaiting the start of the parade..  Although the course is not exactly flat, it has seen super fast results.  So no wonder 2023 saw the largest field to date.  452 registered runners were split closely between the 1 Mile and 2 Mile, with the biggest increase in the 2 Mile distance.  Smoky Mountain Service Dogs was once again the recipient of a $5,000 donation highlighting the importance of their mission.

Race Stats

• 452 registrants in 2023 is the largest field for this race
• With the exception of the 40-44 age group, young runners <15 represent the largest groups with 30 in 1-6, 52 in 7-9, and another 57 in 10-14.  We continue to look for ways to appeal to the younger runners.
• The age groups >70 continues to grow.  We saw a 20% increase in these 3 age group brackets.
• TN represented most of our participants (95%).  Other 5% represented by FL, CA, KS, VA, GA, AZ, UT, TX, and MD. Thank you to our out-of-state runners.
• 13 teams were represented with SMSD being the largest (29) and SJN Mustangs a distant second with 13.

Results & Awards

• Thanks to Total Race Solutions for an accurate and speedy results.   In addition to their timing crew, they were at the start line with race morning registration as well as in the finish corral providing results receipt. 
• Overall Results are posted in RunSignUp as well as on Total Race Solutions website.  If you find an issue with your results, please notify us immediately so we can correct it.
• You can check your individual results by entering your BiB# Here. 
• Team Spirit Award ($50 Mellow Mushroom GC) has been awarded to SMSD for the largest team.
• Overall winners were Emailed individually a $20 FFK coupon
• Top 3 in each age group was awarded a choice of socks from Swiftwick Vision One Flag or Feetures USA designs.  Awards not claimed can be picked up at the store.

Shirts

• New tie-dye design was well received.  With the red, white, and blue color scheme, the shirts were perfect for the Independence Day celebration.

Pictures

• Thanks to our start line and finish line volunteer photographers, we were able to get a lot of good pictures
• All pictures are uploaded to our Flickr account in the 2023 Farragut Freedom Run album.
• Smoky Mountain Service Dog's Ambassador, Hooligan, was at the starting line ready at a moment's notice to showcase the services that can be provided to our veterans.

Charity

• Smoky Mountain Service Dogs - This local organization has the mission of enhancing the physical and psychological quality of life for wounded Veterans by providing custom-trained mobility assistance service dogs (at no cost to the Veteran).  Primarily, SMSD serves wounded veterans with service-connected physical disabilities. When canine inventory allows, they will serve first responders with service-connected physical disabilities and place facility dogs when they have a dog that is better suited for working with veterans in facility settings.  We started our partnership in 2016 and remain committed to their mission of "Facilitating a Better Life For Veterans Through Canine Companionship and Service" and look forward to 2024. Including our 2023 donation of $5,000, we have donated a total of $27,500 to this worthy cause.
