David Hess
Nomination 1: David loves to run. When he started running with Fleet Feet, he was so focused to run harder, get faster, do better. He ran through injury until it finally stopped him. But even that didn't stop him from showing up to cheer on the rest of the training group. He volunteered for the 5k goal race, then stood at the finish line to cheer the half marathon group across. Knowing he wanted to but couldn't run, but instead chose to cheer for the rest of us was overwhelming in that emotion filled moment. As a veteran himself, David participates in Team RWB to enrich the lives of veterans by connecting them to their communities through physical and social activity. Post surgery and recovery, David is back. He runs and he encourages, and he always has a smile for each member of the training group.
Nomination 2: David has overcome obstacles since his car accident many years ago through determination. He went from struggling through recovery to walking and then running. Then just this past winter had to overcome through back surgery. And now he just completed his longest run yet of 10 miles and is going to achieve an amazing goal of a half marathon next month.
