For those who know me, you know how much I dislike treadmills. Satan's sidewalk, the dreadmill, the human hamster wheel... It's nothing personal - I just really, really, really don't like using them. I'm sure they work for lots of people. I mean, we have one in our store... but I get SO bored on them. I don't care what you put on a screen in front of me, time goes by SO slowly while running or walking on them.
This past week I was "forced" to use one when the weather got really cold and really snowy. I didn't want to... and on my first attempt I got to a tenth of a mile and shut it down. The second attempt was better... 1 mile. Then the show I was watching ended so I shut it down again. The third attempt was better, 3.5 miles, but then the treadmill lied to my Coros watch, which then lied to my Strava and said I ran much less than 3.5 miles. Yet another reason to dislike that treadmill.
But here we are, with nearly 2 feet of snow and ice on the roads and below 0 temps. There really isn't a choice. It's simply too dangerous to be on the roads. Yeah, I could do laps around a parking lot, but is that any better than a treadmill? Maybe, but then again just as dangerous as the roads.
For those that like treadmills, kudos to you... you're a different breed than I! Whatever you do during this cold and snowy time, just keep moving and be safe!
