St. Mark’s Trail

The St. Marks Trail, dating back to 1988, was Florida's inaugural 'rails-to-trails' project. Initially a 19th-century rail route, it now spans 20.5 miles, accommodating walkers, runners, cyclists, and equestrians from Tallahassee's Doak Campbell Stadium to St. Marks.
The primary trailhead is near Woodville Highway, south of the Capitol Building, with additional access points at J. Lewis Hall Park and Wakulla Station Trailhead. The trail winds through quiet, rural areas before entering the Apalachicola National Forest.
The St. Marks Trail also connects to the Munson Hills off-road trails, featuring 18.5 miles of singletrack paths in the Apalachicola National Forest. The main trailhead is 1.25 miles south of the St. Marks Trail trailhead, while the "Twilight Zone" extension has its own trailhead near J. Lewis Hall Park.
