Anyone can become a better, more efficient runner by using good form techniques. But, over the course of a run, the body starts to fatigue and it becomes harder to maintain all points of good form. In addition, some runners are just doing something wrong when running and, to avoid injury, it should be corrected. RockTape is a great tool to give you a "reminder" that your technique is off. Here are some common problems many runners have with proper form and how RockTape can help correct them.
Promotes dorsiflexion at ankle
When you run, it is best to land mid-foot. By having a dorsiflexed foot (where your toes point upwards towards the sky), it prevents you from stubbing your forefoot into the ground when striking the ground with your foot.
Shortens Stride length
Many runners make initial contact with the ground at the heel (heel striking). By shortening up the stride length, the runner will be more likely to strike at the mid-foot and by taping the hamstrings, you will be 'reminded' of over-striding when you feel the tension of the tape during the gait cycle.
Promotes an upright posture
When you run, it is important to maintain an upright posture. This allows you to open up your chest and maximally expand your lungs, allowing you to breathe freely. Since running is an aerobic sport, getting enough oxygen into your body is crucial to optimal performance. If you are hunched over, your ability to breathe will be hindered. Applying Rocktape is one way to promote an upright posture.
Encourages Proper Arm Swing
Elbows should point backwards and the arms should not swing across the body when running. Correct arm swing will burn less energy and also significantly reduces shoulder and pelvis rotation.
