Join us in welcoming one of the world’s most distinguished runners to Fleet Feet Sports, Dick Beardsley, on Thursday April 11 at 6pm in our Community Room.
Dick Beardsley, the third fastest American born runner in the marathon is known best for his second place finish in the 1982 Boston Marathon. That year, Dick broke the Boston Marathon course record when he finished a close second to Alberto Salazar. In 1997 Beardsley overcame a dependency on prescription pain killers. The story of his personal and professional battles are chronicled in John Brant’s book, “The Duel in the Sun.” In 2007, he established the Dick Beardsley Foundation which provides assistance to individuals with chemical dependency.
