You didn’t realize it when you were a kid, but Halloween was probably your first endurance event. Chances are you didn’t train for it; the lure of free candy was enough of a motivation. But there were other elements of endurance training present: it was a bit scary, you did it no matter the weather, it was more fun with your friends and each year you planned to cover more distance at a faster pace.
As you grew older, it lost its appeal, and it didn’t seem as fun anymore- another element it shares with training at this time of year. You know the feeling: days get shorter, colder, and wetter, and suddenly you are not so motivated. It doesn’t have to be that way. You just have to recapture a few of those feelings in training that you once experienced as a kid on Halloween:
