It has been a hectic, busy and emotional few weeks around the 315 and Fleet Feet Sports, so let’s recap some items of note.
The Dunn Tire Mountain Goat Hall of Fame Monument in Onondaga Park was a big hit since it was unveiled on Mountain Goat weekend in early May. However, it also took a few paintballs to the granite base and to the body of Sir William Goat itself over the past few weeks. Thanks to Strathmore neighbors who helped with the clean up, particularly Tony Martin and Sean Kirst. Additional surveillance is being added to Onondaga Park to help protect the monument.
Thanks to the generous donations from the 315 running community, Fleet Feet Sports was able to give the Brendan Jackson family a check for nearly $15,000. There are still Team Brendan shirts available for a cash donation at both the DeWitt and Clay stores. We also will be selling them at the Dolphin Dash Alumni Race at Le Moyne College on Saturday, June 3. All money collected from T-shirt sales will go to the Jackson family.
Technology alert! Coming this summer is a new 3D scanning device that we will test out to become part of our everyday FIT Process. Fleet Feet Sports, Syracuse is one of 12 locations in the country that will test this new technology. The device will measure both of your feet in 5 seconds or less and provide a 3D model of your feet along with many important measurements. The main benefits of this new technology is that our FIT Process will be quicker and more accurate and the additional measurements will help customers pick the right running or walking shoes.
On Wednesday, June 7, all Fleet Feet Sports locations will participate in the The Big Run, a nationwide event coinciding with Global Running Day. Fleet Feet Sports, Syracuse will be hold a free, fun run from our DeWitt location. We want to see the whole community participate because, seriously, running together rocks. We're planning some fun raffle giveaways and prizes. The Big Run is free but you have to sign up in advance.
