Sometimes finding time for a workout can be tough. Add kid schedules to the mix and it can be even harder. I’ve witnessed many creative ways to incorporate a workout into a busy day. A good friend of mine wakes up before the sun to run as many miles as she can before her kids are out of bed. Another friend works out in her driveway when the weather is nice as her children play in the kiddie pool or draw with chalk. Another friend used to use two baby carriers – one on her back and another on her chest – to carry her twins while she walked. (Yes, they are all amazing moms!)
One of the best gifts I received when I had my first child was free babysitting from my best friend about once a week. I would zip up to her house in my running clothes, hand her my infant and then spend 30 minutes just running around her neighborhood. It was such a welcome break and I got a workout in to boot. That same driveway workout friend also inspired me to set up a gym in my basement. It’s far from fancy but it works for me.
The only real secret to fitting your fitness into your schedule is figuring out what works for you. And chances are, that’s going to be different for everyone! Fleet Feet Sports is happy to host an option that might work for you: Baby Boot Camp. The classes are 10:15 to 11:15 a.m. and again 5:40 to 6:30 p.m. Wednesdays starting next week in the Community Room at our store in DeWitt. And the best part is, you can bring your baby! The company was founded by a mom looking for a way to get back in shape that didn’t require her to hire a personal trainer AND a babysitter. What a concept!?!?! The local Baby Boot Camp is owned by Kate Jwaskiewicz, whom I’ve had the pleasure of knowing for many years now. She’s an awesome mom herself and really devoted to helping busy moms stay fit and happy, all with their kids in tow. Sounds like a great combination to us!
You can find more information about Baby Boot Camp on their website and don’t forget to check out everything Fleet Feet Sports has to offer when you’re here for a class. And when you come in, ask for me. I’m happy to hold your baby while you shop!
