A local running club is looking to help get you in shape to run the Corporate Challenge in early June. Fleet Feet Sports is encouraging employees of local companies to join its "No Boundaries" training program. Brad Vivacqua was at Onondaga Lake Park in Liverpool Wednesday morning and has details on this.
LIVERPOOL, N.Y. -- Running can be a great way to get or to stay in shape. And with warmer temperatures slowly approaching -- Fleet Feet is encouraging local companies to form groups to get training in preparation for a 5K, specifically the Corporate Challenge.
No Boundaries is a 10 week coached training program that includes a weekly group run. It's designed for people with little to no running experience who may want to give their first 5K a try. Companies with 10 or more interested employees can have a trainer come to their place of employment and lead a group in training.
The goal is to help inspire new runners to get started with a program correctly.
"We know that there's individuals that like to run and are trying to find ways to motivate and inspire their co-workers. So, here's an opportunity for us to come in and help train them with us being the leaders of the group," said Fleet Feet Sports Training Coordinator Mandy Howard.
If you have a company with less than 10 interested employees, the program is offered here at Onondaga Lake Park on Monday afternoons. It's also offered Saturday mornings at Green Lakes State Park.
The Corporate Challenge will take place June 9 this year -- which is only 12 weeks away!
