Starting Location: 101 Grand Ave, Glencoe, MO 63038 (trail head)
Parking Instructions - Plan on meeting at the La Salle Springs Middle School (3300 Missouri 109, Glencoe, MO 63038) parking lot starting at 7:00am. We will leave that lot promptly at 7:15am to head to the trail head. The 2nd paved parking lot will be our starting location (this is the one just before the mini train station and is the newest lot) - there is one at the corner of Washington and Grand when the main lot fills, and there are some gravel lots just past the train station closer to the trail itself you may use. Due to the size of our group though we are trying to cut down on congestion by using the car pool lot as this is a pretty regularly used trail, so please do so if you can.
See map below for reference.
Everyone will start off running the same loop marked with PINK ribbons. Just before a half mile we will turn LEFT to head up the Bluff View Trail. Andy will be just after this turn off along the trail, so keep an eye out. It is a little over 2 miles to the top of the bluff for a great view - stop for a photo op if you like, and then head back down to where you last saw Andy. Take the LEFT on the side trail there (this is just before you get all the way back down to the main Al Foster trail), and follow this trail - it has you cross the train tracks twice. After the 2nd time, when the trail comes to a split, stay LEFT and continue up the hill - this is roughly 4.4 miles into the run. You will make a long descent from the hill side and roughly around the 6.3 mile mark will be where those going SHORT will see PINK ribbons indicating a RIGHT turn (marker #3 on the map). Take this trail back out to the paved path and turn RIGHT and follow it all the way back down to the gravel trail. Cross the train tracks and stay STRAIGHT as the trail takes you out in a wide open area. Follow this all the way back to where we started and you are finished. SHORT COURSE MILEAGE: roughly 8.5 miles
Those going long, after marker #3 stay STRAIGHT and now you will follow the ORANGE ribbon for the next few miles. Eventually the trail will have you cross the paved path roughly around 7.7 miles into the run, keep STRAIGHT across the path to pick up the trail on the other side. Follow this path for about a mile till it spits you back out on the paved path at marker #4 on the map (NOTE - just before this you will see a split in the trail to your left, DO NOT go there, stay to your RIGHT as it takes you down to the paved path. This is a future trail they are still working on). Once back on the paved path the 2nd time, turn LEFT and follow that all the way back down to the gravel path and then STRAIGHT all the way back to the start (this is the same finish as the short course now). LONG COURSE MILEAGE: roughly 10.5 miles
