Run Description: SHORT course = 3 loops / LONG course = 4 loops
See map below for reference.
To start, everyone will head out for loop 1 which will follow the Rock Quarry Trail - run this 2 mile loop in a counter-clockwise manner, from the starting point head North along the road and roughly just over a 1/4mi turn left onto the trail. This does include a happy set of stairs to climb up, but once to the top you get some nice views of the land around you before a nice down hill back to the start. Grab and food or drink needed before heading out to loop 2 which will follow the Trail Among the Trees path.
While on loop 2 at roughly .9 of a mile into it is where you will make a left turn to take a connector trail over to the Lime Kiln Trail. Once you connect to the Lime Kiln, turn RIGHT and run this loop in a counter-clockwise manner back to this spot and then head back over to the Trail Among the Trees turning LEFT to finish out that trail which will be a mix of pavement and trail. This entire spur (Lime Kiln Trail) is roughly 3 miles all together from when you leave the Trail Among the Trees and when you rejoin it. The paved path all the way down back to the start to complete your 2nd loop.
Once back at the start grab and food and drink if needed (you should be close to around 7 miles or so at this point in the run) and then for loop 3 you will run the Rock Quarry Trail in reverse, so from the start point head back out like you would head to Highway 109 (South from Visitor Center) and turn RIGHT onto the trail and head up the gravel hill to the top, then take the short cut trail on your right back down to the Visitor Center - this is just shy of a mile. In the end here you should be close to around 8 miles, this completes the short course.
Those of you going long, refuel before heading out for loop 4 as it will be a long and challenging one. Head back out away from the Visitor Center going South (same direction you started loop 3) and you will eventually see the trail sign for the Green Rock Trail, turn RIGHT on it and follow that out for about 3 miles till you come to the paved road, then turn around and head back the exact same way - an out and back. This loop all together will be close to 6 miles, so be sure you have what you need as there is no pit stop along the way! The trail will be a mix of up and down along with some technical footing to provide you a fun challenge. You will finish up between 13-14 miles all together.
