Starting Location: 7293 Missouri 94, St Charles, MO 63304 - car pool lot @ Nuclear Waste Adventure Trail and Museum lot
Parking: Due to a smaller parking lot, we will do car pooling again to cut down on congestion. We will utilize the paved lot near the Nuclear Waste Adventure Trail & Museum. Plan on arriving here by 6:30am, check-in with your coaches and then promptly leaving here at 6:45am to head to the main trail lot which is roughly 4 miles down the road off highway 94 (turn RIGHT out of the paved lot, and look for the trail parking lot on your RIGHT, a gravel lot just past the Law Enforcement training facility). We will start the run at 7:00am.
Each course is 1 loop - those going MEDIUM or LONG be sure to bring enough fluids with you that you think you may need to get through the ~6.4 or ~9 mile loop courses, no pit stops along the way on this one. Difficulty is not near as rough as Babler but short course would be easy, medium course easy to moderate, and the long course being moderate to some difficulty due to some twisting trails and a few hills.
SEE MAP BELOW
SHORT COURSE - run along the old fire road with everyone for the first .7 of a mile, those going MEDIUM will then break off to the RIGHT while you continue a little further with those going LONG, turning LEFT onto the single track trail. Once this empties back on to an old service road (approx a mile or just over it) this is where you will turn LEFT to leave those going LONG, and follow this path back to where it rejoins the old fire road you ran before...keep STRAIGHT when it rejoins and to your RIGHT following it all the way back to the parking lot. Short and sweet, this is approximately 2.7 miles.
MEDIUM COURSE - start off with everyone for first .7 of a mile and then you will turn RIGHT onto the single track trail and be on your own from here. You will be on this trail for roughly 1.5 miles before you come out to a grassy path, it turns LEFT and you will simply follow that along with the giant power lines you will see. Once you come to a "T" intersection on the old fire road, turn LEFT and simply follow this all the way back around and back to the start. Around roughly your 4.5 mile mark or before you will see where the LONG course trail comes out (this would be roughly their 7 mile mark or so) and joins you for the final 2 miles....simply stay on the gravel road all the way down the hill back to the parking lot. This is approximately 6.4 miles.
LONG COURSE - you will run the same direction as those going the SHORT course for about the first mile or so. Once they turn off to the left you will stay to your RIGHT and follow this till you join the single track trail again. Once on the trails again you have a little over 4 miles of this till you come back out on the old fire road. Make the RIGHT turn on that and you will be joining up for the final 2 miles of your loop with those going on the MEDIUM course. Take the gravel road all the way back down and to the finish. This is approximately 9 miles.
