Starting Location: Lewis and Clark Trailhead Weldon Spring Conservation Area
Parking Instructions: Due to the limited parking space at the main trail head, we will meet at the Nuclear Waste and Adventure Trail parking lot at 7:05am. We will leave from this lot promptly at 7:15am to drive over to the main lot. Leaving the parking lot we will make a RIGHT on Highway 94 and the just a little ways down the road the main trail head lot is on your LEFT (gravel lot).
10K = ~6mi (1 loop + little extra)
13.1 = ~10mi (1 loop + little extra)
50K = ~25mi (2 loops)
Everyone will start off running the Clark Trail clockwise together. At roughly 1.5 miles into the run you encounter the first split for the Lewis trail....EVERYONE will stay RIGHT and proceed down the long rocky hill to the creek bed below. At roughly just over 2 miles into the run you will come to the 2nd split for the Lewis Trail - here is where those running the 10K portion will stay STRAIGHT along the Clark Trail while those in the 13.1 and 50K groups will turn LEFT onto the Lewis Trail and proceed to run this in a counter-clockwise manner back around to where you first saw the trail at that 1.5mi mark. Once you come back to there make the LEFT back onto the Clark Trail to head down that long rocky hill and this time stay STRAIGHT to finish up the Clark Trail the same as those in the 10K did. It is roughly 3 miles or less back to the parking lot from that point.
Once back to the parking lot those in the 10K should be around 5-ish miles, so to get the 6 simply run back out (you can go either direction, up to you) for roughly a half mile and turn back or whatever the distance is you need if you have a GPS watch on.
Those in the 13.1 group should be close to 9.75mi or so, simply head back out a little ways and turn around to get the 10 for the day.
For the 50K group, you will want to stock up on anything you will want for this next loop - it will be an out and back and once the last of the other programs finish I aim to drive out to the Weldon Springs Katy Trail access point with water and sport drink packets if needed to catch you all there. That should be roughly around 6+ miles into the loop. To start the loop simply run back out on the Clark Trail in a COUNTER-CLOCKWISE manner, so reverse of what you all just finished, and once back down to the trail split for Lewis turn RIGHT and follow that staying STRAIGHT all the way till it spits you out on the Katy Trail. Once on the Katy simply turn RIGHT and run out roughly 4.5 miles or so....should be somewhere between the access to the Hamburg Trail and Defiance...then turn back and finish the same way you came. From the Lewis & Clark trail access point on the Katy Trail to the Weldon Springs Trail Head is approx 2.5mi or so, just FYI.
