Starting Location: Chubb Trail - Lone Elk Trailhead
Parking Information: Just before you enter the main entrance to the park, there is a gravel parking lot for the Chubb Trail up off to the right (before you have to physically drive over some grates into the park). Meet here.
Course Description: 3 loops, ~15-16 miles worth total
We will first run a short loop within Lone Elk Park, taking the road in briefly from where we meet then hopping on to the White Bison Trail. Run this CLOCKWISE back around and then take the road back up to where we started. This is roughly somewhere between 3-4 miles depending on your GPS.
After that we will do a quick half mile out and then back along the Chubb before taking the rest of it all the way out for another 3.5 miles roughly till we come to our second set of train tracks to cross - DO NOT CROSS THEM! For those familiar with the area once you cross those you are on the West Tyson side and will start the happy climb up eventually. Instead simply turn back around and run the same 3.5 miles back to the parking lot we started to complete this loop. It is all out and back so you should see others along the way. Most of this is very flat, the only real exception is the hill you get back up to the parking lot.
Our final loop is simply running the same first loop again to get in our mileage. Run it the exact same way so you are familiar with it. You should end up somewhere between 15-16 miles worth approx.
