Starting Location: 1401 Kiefer Creek Rd., Ballwin, MO
Parking Instructions - The main gates to the park open at 7:00am, and we will start the run at 7:30am. Please park in the lot adjacent to the playground on LEFT just after crossing over the creek.
Short Group: (see below) From the parking lot (PINK LOOP ON MAP BELOW, COUNTER-CLOCKWISE), head across the road and take the River Scene trail up the zig-zag hill to the bluffs, then stay to your LEFT all the way until you hit the stairs. Go down the stairs and at the bottom go LEFT after the tunnel. Take this path back out towards the open field, and then take the RIGHT turn to head towards the river, following this trail all the way around and back to the road by the train tracks, turn RIGHT here and head back to the parking lot. This is roughly 3.5mi into the run, grab stuff if needed, otherwise continue on (PURPLE LOOP ON MAP BELOW, CLOCKWISE) past the creek following the Grotpeter Trail (blue markings) out past the Visitor Center and then across the road, take the first RIGHT and follow the #1 trail markings up the hill. Once up top, rejoin the Grotpeter by turning RIGHT and following the blue signs till you come out on top of Ries Road. Cross the road and then take the trail to your RIGHT and follow the #2 trail markings (Mountain Ridge Connector) all the way down to the bottom (once there, if needed this spits you out at the Visitor Center and about 1/4mi from the main parking lot if you need anything) - at the bottom of the hill take the LEFT turn and follow the #3 trail signs (Midway Trail Connector) up the hill. Once at top and at the 4-way intersection, go straight as you rejoin the Grotpeter trail and run what is commonly referred to as the "Roller Coaster Trail". You will follow blue markings the rest of the way, taking you down a long gradual down hill. Once out of the woods and at the road, turn LEFT to head back to the start and finish up.
Mileage: 9.5 miles approx
Long Group: (see below) Run the same as the short course for the first 9.5 miles or so, once back at the parking lot, head back out along the Lone Wolf trail (ORANGE LOOP ON MAP BELOW, COUNTER-CLOCKWISE) running counter clockwise - head back towards the creek but before crossing it pick up the trail on the LEFT and follow that all the way around, not crossing the creek but then head up the hill (this is reverse of what we ran the first week). Once all the way back up to the top once you run by the wooden fences make the sharp RIGHT turn to take the trail alongside the bluffs towards the stairs and finish up just like you did the first loop today.
