Starting Location: Lewis and Clark Trailhead Weldon Spring Conservation Area
Parking Instructions - There's a moderate sized gravel lot at the trail head - with our size group it shouldn't be a problem but if you would like to car pool with someone that can help reduce crowding.
See map below.
UPDATE - Due to the flooding along the trail near the 3mi mark on Clark Trail making it impassable here are the modified runs to get the mileage in.
Everyone will start running the Clark Trail COUNTER-CLOCKWISE following PINK flagging along the way for roughly 2.5 miles.....there will be flags there to mark the turn around. After you pass the double wooden benches which is approx 2.3 miles into the run, you will start to make a descent - you won't go down too far on the hill till you see the next brown trail marker with a white arrow on it...that is the 2.5 marker. Turn around and head back the same way you came and cheer on the others still heading out. If you miss the turn and the flags here you have roughly 1/4 mile of trail till you can't go anymore without a boat or you can swim. Once back to the parking lot the 10K group going 5mi is done. Those that want a little more mileage can join the 13.1 group for the 2nd loop.
The 2nd loop will go out 1.5 miles on the Clark Trail the other direction, heading CLOCKWISE. The 1.5 mile mark is basically where the Lewis Trail splits off, so when you hit this "Y" intersection turn around and head back the way you came - there will also be ORANGE flagging here. When you see the giant wooden bridge that is 3/4 of a mile into the run and basically the midway point of this loop for a mental check point. When you see the giant fallen tree along the way that is about a mile out from the parking lot. Once back to the lot you should be about 8 miles, 10K runners are done. Those in the 13.1 group have one more 3 mile run to get your mileage in.
The 3rd and final loop is going back out the same way you did that first loop, only turn around at the 1.5 mile mark which is near the bottom of the first big down hill....there will be BLUE flags to mark this. Turn around and head back to the parking lot.
