Starting Location: Fort Belle Fontaine, 13002 Bellefontaine Rd, St. Louis, MO 63138
Parking: Every vehicle will need to stop at the main entrance and check in with the guard on duty before entering the park (there is no cost, simply sign in and they will give you a card - know your license plate number as they will record that). The trail head parking lot is on your left just down from the guard post. There will be limited parking there - ideally we can double up cars if those running long pull in first and then those going shorter or who need to leave park behind them. This could create at least 2 rows if not 3. Other parking can be found further down the paved road scattered around the park all with in a 1/4 of a mile from where we will start, then just meet us at the trail head lot. Please allow time to check in with the guard!
Run Description: 3 / 6 / 9 miles
UPDATED MAP!!! Due to a tiny portion of the trail being flooded, the routes are modified. We will have 2 out and back portions. Everyone will run the first together, stopping at the .7 mile mark for the group photo, then continue along in groups. Run out 1.35 miles roughly to the flooding, then turn around and head back the way you just came - this cuts out more pavement running...trails are better. :) This should put you around 2.7 miles approx for the loop. Those in the 10K can call it after this if you like, or simply head out with everyone on loop 2 for an additional .15 miles before turning back to make it an even 3.
Loop 2 is another out and back on the other half of the trail...roughly 1.3 miles to the flooded portion. Turn around and head back to the parking lot. This should put you around that 5.3 miles total. Those wanting the middle portion mileage can either call it here or simply continue on loop 3 and turn around just before the actual trail portion and head back to the cars to be around 6 miles.
Loop 3 is simply a repeat of loop 1, do the same thing again that we started with. At the end of it you should be at 8 miles approx. To get the 9 miles, loop 4 is simply running the first half mile of loop 3 - follow the gravel road around the giant pond and right at the bench and entrance to the woods turn around and head back. That should put you close enough to 9 miles for the day.
