PLACES TO RUN
Springfield Trail - The Springfield Trail is 4.7-mile loop trail through public and private lands in Springfield Township, PA and Nether Providence Township, PA. The trail features a portion in Smedley Park along Crum Creek, as well as portions along Whiskey Run. The trail connects to the Leiper-Smedley trail at it's northern terminus.
Leiper-Smedley Trail - a six feet wide, paved, multi-use trail links the historic Leiper House and Park to Smedley Park; and allows access to Strath Haven High School and Middle School and the Community Arts Center.
Ridley Creek State Park - The Ridley Creek State Park Trail loops for 4.7 miles through the Park, encompassing over 2,600 acres of woodlands and meadows. The paved, multi-use trail runs along Sycamore Mills and Forge roads and is open to various uses.
Delco Woods - Hiking trails through the woods are open to the public during daylight hours. For improved access, the County created a new parking area near the trailhead on Reed Rd. The lot can hold approximately 40 cars and is located between Sproul Road and South Parkway Boulevard, across the street from the apartments next to Home Depot.
Chester Creek Trail - The Chester Creek Trail is a rail-trail in central Delaware County, Pennsylvania, Southeastern Pennsylvania. The trail follows Chester Creek along the Civil War-era Chester Creek Branch line of the Pennsylvania Railroad.
Darby Creek Trail - 3 Parts Located off Township Line Road, Burmont Road and Glendale Road
Haverford CREC Trails - Andy Lewis Community Park at Haverford Reserve is Haverford Township's largest open space recreation area. Within and around the park, there are over five miles of walking trails that you can use from dawn to dusk. In general these are earthen trails in wooded areas and have varying degrees of steepness
Tinicum Township Trail - The Tinicum Township trail begins on the southwest corner of the intersection of Wannamaker Ave. and Route 291. The asphalt multi-use trail extends southwest, paralleling Route 291 for a little over half a mile to the bridge over Darby Creek.
John Heinz National Wildlife Refuge - With more than 10 miles of trails, the refuge provides many opportunities for visitors to connect with nature. The popular 3.5 mile Wetland Loop offers opportunities for wildlife observation, walking, and biking in a variety of habitats. The Big Boardwalk Loop is less than 1 mile and is wheelchair accessible.
Pennsy Trail - The longer Brookline section of the Pennsy Trail leads from Manoa Road and Columbia Road and runs all the way north to the rear of the Haverford Area Y parking lot. It also connects to the bottom of Veterans Field, the paved Princeton Road - Lincoln Avenue path, Harvard Road and Ralston Avenue.
Chester Riverfront Trail - The 1.35 mile-long Chester Riverfront Trail is a great way to experience the Delaware River. Part of an urban renewal project that also includes the adjacent Barry Bridge Park, Subaru Park Stadium
Cobbs Creek Trail - Cobbs Creek Trail runs through the borough of Lansdowne, just west of Philadelphia. The paved pathway offers a scenic route along its tree-lined namesake creek from the 63rd Street Station to Cobbs Creek Parkway and 70th Street. A disconnected southern section runs for a half-mile through Eastwick Park which features a playground, sports courts, and greenspace.
Swarthmore Area Trails - Swarthmore and the surrounding communities offer a wealth of opportunities to get out of the house and explore the Borough and the great outdoors. There are about 20 different trails and walks mapped that you can take. Many of these have been created over the years by other organizations such as the Swarthmore Historical Society and the Swarthmore Horticultural Society, as well as the Scott Arboretum at the College.
