With Fleet Feet’s Training Program Presented by ASICS, you’ll follow a holistic training plan designed to help you build the habits, mindset and fitness you need to cross the finish line feeling strong and empowered.
Training for a 10k or half marathon isn't just about logging miles. It’s about facing challenges, tackling different types of runs, building strength and making space for rest and recovery. With our program, you’ll connect with other runners, grow together and benefit from expert Fleet Feet running coaches every step of the way.

- Objective Distance: We're training for the Spokane 10k & Half Marathon, however, we welcome runners in our Spokane community training for other races and are happy to adjust your plan to meet your goals.

MEET YOUR COACHES:
HALF MARATHON- KATI JOHN (EMAIL)
Kati has been working with Fleet Feet since 2021, but has roots in the earliest days of training with Fleet Feet groups. From the very first Winter Warriors group to coaching strength training for runners, she is excited to bring her valuable running experience to this group.
Kati first got into running after college when her mom decided to pick up the sport to get in shape. Never having liked running as a kid, the competitor in Kati was inspired to say, “I can do that too!” Shortly after, she caught the running bug. She started with half marathons, which led to seeking out other road and trail races of all distances, including a couple ultra trail races with her husband, Shane. This all gave her the confidence to shoot for a Boston qualifier, in which she was able to achieve and complete.
When Kati first met some of our longtime staff through a trail group years ago, she realized after all of her solo training that running with a group is much easier, way more fun, and most importantly, gives a sense of camaraderie and community that you can't find elsewhere. Kati wants to help others accomplish their half marathon goals and create an environment where others feel supported. Kati believes that there is more to running than just running. She believes that while it is an individual sport, it doesn’t have to be done alone.
Kati is a former teacher, high school cross country coach, mom, and also works at our Kendall Yards store!
10K- NICKI COBURN (EMAIL)
Early in my life I made the connection between running and a healthier mental and emotional state.
In high school I ran by myself to lift my mood and escape the chaos of nine younger siblings. In college I ran to relieve the stress of being a full-time student with little ones of my own and I began to go a bit further: 5k and then 10k distances. I did a couple of sprint triathlons when my two oldest kids were babies, and then took about ten years off while I had three more kids.
17 years ago, I started running again and completed my first half and full marathons. Soon running was an integral part of my life. It became a strengthening element to my struggling marriage and eventually a way of coping through divorce. It gave me a strong endurance base for a foray into long course triathlon and got me to the finish line of five full ironmans. The fitness from running gave me the confidence to apply to become a group exercise instructor at the YMCA, and led to 10 years of encouraging others on their own fitness journeys as a Cycling and TRX Instructor. I was even able to reach a running goal that had seemed unattainable when I started, when in 2014 I ran the Boston Marathon.
In 2012 I became an original staff member of Fleet Feet Spokane. In that capacity, I’ve coached 5k, 10K, Triathlon, Bloomsday and Distance groups over the past 10 years and loved them all. Recently, life's happy events (weddings and grandbabies) have put my personal running on the back burner for a time and I’m looking forward to bringing it back to the forefront of my focus again.
Nicki also works as our Director of Merchandising, and you may have seen her at the Kendall Yards shop.

Description: Fleet Feet's Distance Training Program, in partnership with ASICS, gives you the structure and support to train with confidence. There is a 12 week marathon training plan, two supported workouts each week and running coaches who know how to help you stay steady and finish strong.
