This 150 acres of maritime forest habitat was purchased by the county in 2008, and has since become accessible to the public with the help of the Chatham County Resource Protection Commission. The property includes 13 acres of brackish marsh, a two acre open field and over two miles of trails through a mix of pine, live oak, and palmetto trees, which connect to the neighboring Islands YMCA trail.

The Islands Family YMCA walking/jogging trail is a one mile path on the property of the YMCA on Whitemarsh Island. The trail was made possible by the generous donation of Dr. Bill and Maria Dascombe. The trail is open to YMCA members and to the public. It winds through the 54 acre YMCA property, with two beautiful ponds, is enhanced by hundreds of palm trees, has a water fountain for walkers and a water fountain for pets. McQueen's Islands Rails to Trails
Location: McQueen's Island (Between Wilmington Island and Tybee Island)
Distance: 6 miles
Surround yourself with salt marsh for 6 miles on what used to be a railroad track that transported people between Savannah and Tybee Island from 1887 - 1933. The creation of the trail began in 1990 as a part of the national rails to trails movement. Made out of limestone and shell base from the Bahamas, the project was completed in 1999 with the help of park employees, volunteers, and an inner-city work program.
