Sarasota is a runner’s paradise with a variety of scenic spots to explore. You’ll find everything from quiet nature paths to breezy beachside stretches, each offering its own kind of beauty. While the list could go on forever, here are a few of our favorite places to run around town.
1. The Legacy Trail
Stretching over 18 miles from Sarasota to Venice, The Legacy Trail is a runner’s dream. It’s a flat, paved path surrounded by nature—perfect for long runs, tempo workouts, or leisurely miles. Access points like Payne Park or Ashton Trailhead make it super convenient.
2. Bayfront Park & Marina Jack Loop
For scenic water views and a dose of downtown energy, head to Bayfront Park. A 1-mile loop takes you along the marina, past dolphins and boats, with shaded spots and benches if you need a quick stretch or breather.
3. Siesta Key Beach
Siesta Key’s powdery white sand and turquoise water create a postcard-worthy backdrop for your run. Stick to the shoreline for firmer sand and watch the sun rise or set as you move.
4. Nathan Benderson Park
This loop around the lake is about 3.5 miles and completely flat, making it ideal for timed laps or speed work. With clean restrooms, water fountains, and wide paths, it’s a go-to for runners of all levels.
5. Celery Fields
For a touch of elevation, head to Celery Fields. This spot offers rolling hills, a scenic overlook, and quiet gravel trails—great for building strength or mixing things up from flat routes.
