Description: Destination races are fun and a great way to see different regions, but this is a full marathon that allows you to sleep in your own bed, know the course intimately, and run your best time. The course is largely flat with only a few rolling hills midway. The race begins and ends in Old Courthouse Square, and while 2017 turned out to be quite warm, most years it has been relatively cool and even overcast. Join us in a fun group setting to train for the full marathon, make new friends, and avoid doing your long runs all by yourself! The coaching staff are experienced both with leading marathon groups and with running marathons themselves, so you can be confident of being well prepared.
The group meets for coached workouts on Saturday mornings at 7:30 am at various locations around Sonoma County, and on Tuesdays at 5:30 pm for speed work and hill repeats.
This group will help you get through your first marathon or provide the tools to improve your finishing time. All participants should be able to run or run/walk 9 miles, have completed a recent half marathon, and be able to maintain a 14 minute per mile pace. If you have questions, contact Coach Patrick at (707) 483-3072 (m) or firstname.lastname@example.org. Note that the training group fee does not include race registration.
