What is the APMA Seal?
The American Podiatric Medical Association (APMA) awards two designations to products that promote good foot health:
-
Seal of Acceptance: Footwear, socks, insoles, materials, and equipment.
-
Seal of Approval: Therapeutic products such as lotions, deodorizers, wound-care treatments, regulated medical devices, and medicines (over-the-counter or prescription).
To earn an APMA seal, products are reviewed by a committee of podiatrists who evaluate foot-health benefits, safety, quality control, and supporting data. Learn more at APMA.org.

FAQs
What does “APMA-Accepted” mean?
It indicates that a product has been independently reviewed by APMA podiatrists and found to promote good foot health.
Is APMA Acceptance the same as a medical prescription?
No. APMA Acceptance is an independent evaluation of foot-health benefits—it’s not a prescription. Always follow your healthcare provider’s guidance for your specific needs.
Do I need the same shoe for walking and running?
Not always. Many APMA-accepted models work well for both, but your activity level, terrain, and preferences matter. Our Outfitters can help you choose.
Will insoles or sandals also have the APMA Seal?
Some do. APMA grants Acceptance to a wide range of products, including footwear, socks, and insoles. Look for the Sealon the product packaging or ask an Outfitter in one of our stores.
How do I know if a specific model is APMA-accepted?
Check the product details for the APMA Seal badge or ask an Outfitter in-store.
