Mentors are the heart of Fleet Feet's Training Programs. Your role supports beginners, returning runners, and walkers in achieving goals they may have never thought possible. You're a motivator, cheerleader, and consistent prescence in their running journey. It is incredibly rewarding to help others achieve their running goals.
What is a Mentor?
A mentor is someone who volunteers their time to support participants through encouragement, accountability, and positive energy. You don't need to be an expert. What matters most is showing up consistently and caring about each participant's journey.
Mentor Requirements
- Mentors are expected to attend at least 75% of group workouts. If you are unable to attend a workout, please notify the head coach as early as possible.
- Mentors should carry a cell phone at all times during group workouts and have the head coach and store's contact information saved.
- Mentors are expected to review and be familiar with the running or walking routes provided by the program coach ahead of each workout.
- Mentors should take time to mingle with participants before and after workouts to build connection and provide encouragement.
- Mentors help ensure all participants are accounted for. If someone needs to return early, a mentor should accompany them. One mentor is typically assigned to stay toward the back of the group each workout to support anyone who may need extra assistance.
- Mentors are required to wear visibility gear during evening or low light workouts.
- Mentors help set the tone for the group by bringing positive energy, encouragement, and motivation.
- Mentors are expected to review and be familiar with the Mentor Expectations Guide.
