MAKE IT A MILE - TAKE THE FIRST STEPS TOWARD GETTING HEALTHY
Make it a Mile is a four-week program designed to help beginning runners take the first steps toward getting healthy. The program includes a safe, guided training plan that will allow you to work at your own pace in a non-judgmental environment. At the end of the four weeks, you'll be able to run one mile feeling healthy, happy, and strong.
This program is offered in the spring and fall at all Raleigh & Morrisville locations.
The cost of the program is $25. FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Q: When does the program meet?
A: All programs meet on Mondays and Wednesdays at 6 p.m.
Q: I've never run before. Do you think I'll be left behind?
A: Of course not! This program is designed for beginners and those coming back to running after a long time away. We'll start slow and and all participants are encouraged to go at their own pace.
Q: What is the training schedule like?
A: At the first group workout, we'll do six repetitions of RUN 30 SECONDS/WALK 90 SECONDS. From there, we'll slowly increase our running intervals and decrease our walking intervals, building up to our final mile. We'll also give you a training schedule with suggested activities for the rest of the week.
Q: If I have to miss a workout or two, does that mean I can't be part of the program?
A: Of course you can still be involved! We would love to have every training group participant at every run, but we understand that life and obligations may occasionally get in the way. That said, if you're planning to miss more than half of the workouts, please check in with our training program coordinator before signing up.
