Mentors play a meaningful role in creating the kind of experience that keeps people coming back not just to training programs but to running and walking as part of their lives. Your encouragement, presence, and consistency help participants feel supported through challenges, celebrate progress, and believe they are capable of more than they may have thought possible.
As a mentor, your role is to help create a supportive and welcoming experience for everyone in the training program. You are someone participants can recognize, approach, and feel comfortable around from the moment they arrive. You do not need to be an expert or have all the answers. What matters most is your willingness to show up, help participants stay safe, and encourage others along the way.
Mentors are expected to attend at least 80% of group workouts. For our upcoming Fall 5K training programs, we will meet twice a week for in-person group runs on Wednesday evenings (6:00 p.m.) and either Saturday mornings (8:00 a.m.).
We know that mentoring takes a lot of time and energy, so we always make sure our mentors are taken care of. While the real highlight is watching the group hit their goals, you’ll also receive some special perks like free shoes, a free race entry, and in-store discounts during the training program.
