What is a personalized shoe fitting?
We believe there is no "best shoe," only the best shoe for you. Our Outfitting Process is designed to find your perfect match. We use 3D fit id® technology to take 12 precise measurements of your feet, combined with Dynamic Pressure Mapping to see exactly how you move. Whether you’re training for your first half marathon or just need a comfortable pair of shoes for your daily walk, our highly trained Outfitters use this data to find the right support, cushion, and fit for your unique stride.
Do I need an appointment for a personalized shoe fitting?
Nope! We love walk-ins. Just swing by the store whenever we’re open, and one of our friendly Outfitters will be happy to get you started.
What should I bring with me to a shoe fitting?
If you have custom orthotics or medical insoles you plan on wearing, please bring them along! It helps us ensure the shoe and insole work perfectly together. Don’t worry about socks—we provide freshly laundered demo socks to ensure you get a clean, consistent, and hygienic fitting experience.
How long does a personalized shoe fitting take?
We like to be thorough! Because we do a full biomechanical assessment and let you test-drive a few different options, plan to spend about 20 to 30 minutes with us. We want to make sure you leave feeling confident and comfortable.
Does the 3D foot scan cost anything?
Not a penny. Our 3D scans are a complementary part of the experience. We want everyone who comes to our store to have access to the data they need to move comfortably!
How do I know if I found the right shoes for me?
The "Golden Rule" of shoes: they should feel great the second you put them on! You shouldn't need a "break-in" period. Your foot should feel secure but with plenty of "wiggle room" for your toes to move naturally.
How do I know my shoes are the right size?
A good rule of thumb (literally!) is to have about a thumb’s width of space between your longest toe and the end of the shoe. If you feel any pinching or squeezing, let your Outfitter know—we have plenty of widths and styles to try!
I’m not a runner. Do you have shoes for walking or standing all day?
Absolutely. We help a huge number of local healthcare workers, teachers, and retail pros who are on their feet for 8+ hours a day. If you move, we have the shoes for you.
What brands do you carry?
We carry premium brands including ASICS, Brooks, HOKA, Mizuno, New Balance, On, and Saucony.
Will insoles make my shoes feel better?
Yes. Think of an insole as the bridge between your unique foot and a mass-produced shoe. Most shoes come with a basic insert that offers very little “architecture.” By adding a supportive insole, you’re filling in the gaps under your arch, which distributes your weight more evenly and reduces foot fatigue. It’s the simplest way to turn a standard shoe into a custom-tailored fit that keeps you feeling fresh from your first cup of coffee to your final mile.
Why the “no cotton” rule for socks?
Cotton holds onto moisture, which leads to blisters and "swamp foot"—no fun for anyone! Performance socks (like the ones we carry) wick moisture away, keep your feet cool, and stay in place so you can stay blister-free.
Do you carry compression socks for recovery or travel?
Yes! We carry medical-grade CEP compression socks. They aren't just for "fast" runners—they are amazing for travel, recovery, or anyone dealing with swelling and joint pain.
Compression socks are designed to improve oxygen flow to muscles and tissue. Increased oxygen flow reduces inflammation and swelling, which in turn can improve joint mobility and reduces pain. This can enhance athletic performance and support the body in healing and recovery.
Compression socks come in many different forms for different purposes, to be worn for everyday wear, travel, exercise, or recovery. Tall compression socks extend from the foot up to the top of the calf, just below the knee. Compression socks are also available in mid and low-cut options.
Do you have clothes for yoga, the gym, or general athleisure?
We sure do. From high-performance running gear to the "I’m never taking these off" comfort of Vuori, we have a curated selection of brands like Nike, rabbit, Brooks, and The North Face to keep you looking and feeling great.
Do you offer sports bra fittings?
Yes, and we highly recommend it! Most women are wearing the wrong size, which can lead to discomfort or even tissue damage. Our Outfitters are trained to help you find the right level of support for your favorite activity—no appointment needed.
Do you have any local running groups?
We are so proud of our local community! You should definitely check out the Miles & Brews Run Club and the Eastern Dutchess Road Runners Club. We also host our own 5K, 10K, and Half Marathon training groups throughout the year. We are a "no ego" zone—our programs are for "all faces and all paces!"
Be sure to follow us on Instagram or Facebook for the latest information about our events, training groups, and accountability challenges.
I’m a total beginner; are your programs for me?
100% yes! We specialize in beginners. Our programs offer a zero-intimidation vibe, a clear plan to follow, and a built-in group of new buddies to keep you motivated. You’ve got this!
