Whether you are new to the 10k, trying to improve performance, or just want to keep moving, our nine-week program will help you progress toward personal goals, wellness, and running success.
Challenge yourself to cross the finish line at 6.2 miles. 10k doesn't have to be intimidating. With encouraging coaches that keep things fun, gradual increases in workload that build endurance safely, and the accountability provided by your fellow participants, you are sure to meet your goals in the 10k distance! Many runners start their running by entering 5ks, and after successful completion, set their sights on a 10k. It's the next logical step and a great segue to the half marathon and beyond.
This is an intermediate-level program. From the start, a successful runner should have a solid running foundation and be able to comfortably run a 5K or farther, using a 2:1 run/walk interval or better.

Motivated to Finish!
The camaraderie of training with a group week after week will take your training to the next level. When the workouts become more rigorous, you'll have the collective strength of the group to keep you moving forward. You will not only make new friends, but you will all continue to grow your knowledge of running and share experience with others. All this, while having fun in a positive, non-judgmental environment.
Using the Run/Walk method, the program provides a guided training plan that helps you gradually increase your distance and speed as you progress towards your goals. You will do new workouts to increase leg strength and efficiency. We meet 2x weekly for group workouts; your plan will include additional activities that you complete on your own. Your coach will check in with you frequently, to keep you motivated, and provide individualized feedback.
At the end of nine weeks, you will be able to finish a 10k (6.2 mile) course. You will have learned the importance of proper form, stretching, injury prevention, hydration and nutrition - all the tools needed to do your best in your first (or next!) 10k.

PROGRAM REQUIREMENTS
Recent completion of 5k training, or ability to run/walk 5k using 2:1 run/walk intervals, at a pace of 15 minutes or better. Trainees who do not meet these requirements should consider starting with the next Fleet Feet 5k session as a prerequisite.
Trainees should have no active injuries
Participants must be 18 or older
Participants must use reflective clothing and lights for nighttime workouts
