An Important Note from Coach Tim

Dear friends and fellow runners,

After almost seven years of service to the Pittsburgh running community, I have made the decision to step down from my role as Training Programs Director at Fleet Feet Pittsburgh. During my tenure, the Fleet Feet Running Club has experienced exponential growth, our athletes have achieved great success with their training and racing and we have expanded our outreach programs to impact runners at every step of their individual journeys. I have full faith and confidence this work will continue unabated.

Effective September 1st, I will be handing the reins to Jon Fisher who will assume the role of Training Programs Manager. Coach Jon is a tremendous asset with a wealth of knowledge and personal experience, and whose contributions have significantly elevated the FFRC on multiple levels. In addition to being a certified RRCA coach and USATF Marathon Specialist, he is also a kind, caring and compassionate individual who shares the collective vision for Running Club activities and Training Program offerings. There is no doubt I leave you in the best of hands.

Our 2025 Pittsburgh Marathon training program represents the culmination of efforts that began in January of 2018, and I am extremely excited to see the dream for the Fleet Feet Running Club become a reality. Not only do we offer our athletes the highest level training program delivered seamlessly through the Final Surge app, we are also able to provide premium perks and benefits like our VIP Race Day experience. In addition, we support runners for races year-round with our virtual training plans and team events. Whether you are looking for a robust program, want a plan to follow or simply enjoy participating in group events, Fleet Feet has you covered at all levels, on every surface for any distance. I encourage you to take advantage of these opportunities and experience fewer injuries, run farther distances and achieve faster times.

You can also check out the Runner Resources page on our website, which includes testimonials from our athletes and great content focused on injury prevention, training techniques, nutrition and cross-training. There are Pittsburgh Post-Gazette articles, Fleet Feet Journal blog posts and even a podcast in the Training Tips section!

I am excited to get back to my roots as a practicing health and wellness professional, and am pleased to announce I have accepted a position with Coach Donald and his team at Global Human Performance just around the corner from Fleet Feet’s Bakery Square location. As an ACE-certified Personal Trainer, Health Coach & Fitness Nutrition Specialist and a NASM-certified Performance Enhancement Specialist, I am thrilled to once again have the opportunity to help the local running community optimize their running, training and racing at the most fundamental levels. To learn more about how GHP can supplement and complement your next training cycle with Fleet Feet, and take advantage of the New Coach Special package, please contact me directly at timothy.r.lyman@gmail.com.

I want to extend a sincere and heartfelt thank-you to everyone on our team; none of this happens without you. Whether you have volunteered as a Pace Group Leader, are assisting as a Team Lead, recruited a friend to run with us or simply bring energy and enthusiasm to a Pub Run, your presence and passion is what makes the Fleet Feet Running Club such a warm, welcoming place for athletes of all ages and abilities to come together and share the sport we love.

Continue to run well, train hard and race fast!!
