Running means different things to different people. Some use the practice as exercise, to get or remain fit. Others approach the sport as a discipline, be it physiological or psychological. Many find community and camaraderie in the experience. Whatever the reason(s), it’s important to cultivate and maintain a healthy relationship with the activity.
During the upcoming off-season, your focus should shift towards nurturing this relationship. Don’t go for a run because your coach told you to; go for a run because it’s fun! Leave your phone and your watch at home. Look, listen and feel everything happening around you...
Running can give us so much. During this respite from training and racing, I encourage you to get back to the basics and nourish your relationship with the sport we all cherish.
Run well,
