According to The National Institute of Health up to 72% of people are wearing the wrong size shoes, usually too narrow or too small. This common issue causes foot pain, blisters, corns and common foot deformities like bunions. Poor fit can be due to aging, weight gain or inconsistent sizing across brands.

• At Fleet Feet our expert Outfitters will use 3D scanning and foot pressure mapping technology that takes precise measurements of your foot's length width and arch height as well as exactly where you put pressure during standing, walking and running.
• Our Expert Outfitters will work with you one-on-one to help figure out what variables might affect your choice of walking or running shoes. Things like what activities you will be using the shoes for, if you have any conditions or injuries that may affect what shoes you should use, what's worked or not worked for you previously, do you have any color preferences and what thickness of socks you wear are all variables that can affect how the shoes fit you.
• We keep freshly laundered demo socks for you to wear while trying on the selected shoes from brands such as Features, Balega and Jogology. Thin or thick socks can affect how a shoe fits. Our Outfitters will select a try-on sock for you based on your preference. Performance walking/running socks are moisture wicking to keep your feet dry, cool and prevent chaffing and blisters.
• Our Expert Outfitters will select shoes from multiple brands for you to wear test around the store or if you prefer you can run outside on the concrete to get a true test of how the shoes perform. Things such as stack height (the thickness of the cushion), heel to toe drop (the amount of difference in cushion height between the heel and toe of the shoe), width (your foot should have wiggle room and not be squeezed into the shoe) and stability (the amount the shoe allows your foot to pronate or roll inward while you walk or run) are all taken into account.
• We will also allow you to wear test additional arch supports also commonly referred to as over the counter orthotics, orthotics, insoles and footbeds. The addition of a performance insole can provide the addional support your feet need at the end of a long walk or run or just at the end of a day of being on your feet. This can help ease pain and fatigue of your feet, knees, hips and spine. If you choose to purchase a  performance insole during your fitting our Expert Outfitter will remove the demo insole and shape a new insole for you during your fitting. If youthings have any conditions or injuries such as Plantar Fasciitis, Heel Pain, Shin Splints, Knee, Hip or Back Pain our Expert Outfitter will show you the numerous supports and self help devices we have that cen help you address the condition. Things like compression socks, braces and masage tools can allow you to treat your condition at home.
• During your visit if you have any questions about things like performance walking/running apparel (shirts, shorts, socks etc), nutrition (gels, hydration &electrolyte drinks), visibility wear (if you walk/run in the dark we carry reflective, high visibility gear so you can do so safely) or training tips (our Running Club meet at the store every Thursday night 6:30 pm for 3 miles) our Expert Outfitter will help you select the right gear for you.
