All In for LA
A few months ago ASICS, Featherstone Nutrition and Believe in the Run partnered up to offer 100 women a unique opportunity: 16 weeks of professional run and nutrition coaching, plus the chance to run the LA Marathon on March 8 – International Women's Day.
Over 5,000 women applied with four of our local Nashville runners selected! We recently met up with these ladies to gift them some gear and to discuss all things running and training for the LA Marathon.

Fleet Feet Nashville: What made you want to sign up for this program with ASICS, Featherstone Nutrition and Believe in the Run?
Lydia: As a mom of three young boys I'm passionate about motherhood and movement, specifically running, and have loved encouraging other moms to take the space to take care of themselves. This felt like another opportunity to do that.
Victoria: I applied because I wanted to run another marathon – my first was Chicago in October. I didn't anticipate my second one would be so soon, but here we are! And I'm excited to represent slower runners and inspire them to crush their goals.
Teri: Personally, this program interested me because I've never invested in nutrition coaching before and was super curious about how it could help take my running to the next level. And on a professional level, I always want to be involved in whatever the ASICS team and the Megs* are up to!
Brooke: It sounded like a once in a lifetime opportunity. I had to defer my entry to the New York Marathon in the fall, so this felt like a chance to continue with my training and I'm ready to do this! Plus, I've been a huge fan of the Megs and their podcast for years!
*the Megs are Meghann Featherstun of Featherstone Nutrition and Meaghan Murray from Believe in the Run; the powerhouse coaching duo for this program and hosts of the podcast Fuel for the Sole.

FFN: What has training looked like for you this season and how's it been going?
Brooke: I look forward to it, but it can be difficult to fit the miles in. I love when I can look back at my week and see that I hit all my training goals for the week.
Lydia: Training has been going great! I think it's been really cool that we're all training in different parts of the country but we can keep up with each other thru Strava and Instagram. It does feel like we're training together and it helps keep me accountable.
Victoria: So far it's been fun, but life happens and I've had to work thru a bit of injury. As I get back into the groove of things, it's been great to have the support of the other women to push me along.
Teri: This season has meant a lot of lonely, pre-dawn miles but knowing that the training has purpose and I'm working towards a goal makes it easier to get up and out the door on cold mornings.

FFN: What is your goal for the LA Marathon?
Teri: I've been kind of scared to commit to a time goal for LA yet because that feels too big and race day can go so many different ways. But, I really would like to PR again before I retire from running (laughs), so my goal right now is to keep putting in the work and give myself a chance.
Victoria: (laughing) My goal is to finish and not die! But I know I can do that, so the real goal is to PR from my first marathon and enjoy the experience.
Lydia: My "A" goal is around 2:50 - 2:55, but overall the goal for me is to really soak up this opportunity with the other 99 women. I think being able to see each other on course is going to be amazing!
Brooke: I don't really want to put a number on it, but I want to feel stronger than my last race. Ultimately, I want to feel proud of myself when I finish.
