Weather Policy
In such conditions where weather conditions can become risky to either travel or be outside or running, we will take strong consideration in cancelling or moving a scheduled run. For many programs, we are making indoor options available, in lieu of cancellation. We do gauge up to 60 minutes prior to scheduled time to decide. The health and safety of our running community and teams are the highest priority!
Here are some of the guidelines we follow:
Cold:
- The actual temperature is 0 degrees Fahrenheit or below
- The wind chill is -20 degrees Fahrenheit or below
- Other dangerous conditions exist such as ice storms, hail, or extremely poor visibility
Snow / Ice:
- Snowstorms and icy conditions require additional caution. Risk is not limited to footing alone.
- Reduced visibility, traffic interaction, and snow removal equipment create significant hazards.
Inclement Weather:
- Thunderstorms with lightning are present
- Tornado warnings or high wind conditions exist
- Any other dangerous weather conditions such as hail or extremely poor visibility are present
Adverse Air Quality:
- When AQI levels are elevated (50+), we monitor conditions closely, and make conservative choices that reduce exposure and risk.
