Why Sign Up for the 16th SueB 5K Walk/Run?

Every step in the SueB 5K honors the life of Susan “SueB” Newby—

a vivacious, intelligent woman whose story reminds us of the importance of raising awareness about domestic violence.

 Who Was SueB?

Susan Elaine Brubaker Newby (February 9, 1955 – April 4, 2008) tragically passed away in a horseback riding accident. After her death, loved ones realized she may have been in an abusive marriage. Her sister, Marj, and close friends turned to the WCA to honor SueB’s memory and help other women find safety and freedom before it’s too late.

Why It Matters

Participation in the SueB 5K supports the WCA Endowment Fund, which ensures critical programs can continue to provide safety, healing, and freedom from domestic abuse and sexual assault for years to come.

In Sue's sister Marji Sente's words: “Don’t wait until your sister, daughter, or mother is a victim… Step forward now and make an investment in raising awareness about domestic violence.”

This race is about more than miles. It is about community, healing, and hope. Will you join us?
