
Reach the Beacon 10K

The Reach the Beacon 10k training group is designed for runners looking to improve their running goals beyond the 5k, increase speed and turnover during the summer months, or a group to stay consistent with their training throughout the year. We will complete a 10 week training program together with a goal of racing the Beach to Beacon 10k on August 3, 2024.
This group is open to beginners and veterans alike. We will have weekly options tailored to your level of fitness. The program will take place every Wednesday evening at 5:30pm from May 29th to August 3rd . We will also meet for 2 bonus weekend longer runs during this program.
*All participants are suggested to have completed a 5K (training included) prior to the start of this program and should expect longer runs from about 5-8 miles.
As part of the Reach the Beacon 10K training program, participants will receive the following:
- A guaranteed Beach to Beacon Entry for the all registered participants (a $70 cost will be added to your registration).
- A 10 week training program and calendar with workouts provided to you.
- Dedicated support and individual attention from your Coaches.
- One in person coached running session per week.
- One Back Cove Series 5k prep race at no additional cost.
- Strength training sessions, running mechanics workshops, and informational topics presented during the program.
- The camaraderie of others like you with the same goal!

Meet your Coaches:
Dan Frey, PT and Co-Owner of Finish Strong PT
Dan has been running since the 3rd grade, competing at the Division I Level for the University of Delaware in both Cross Country and Indoor/Outdoor Track. He has raced in distances from the 400m run through Ultra-Marathons. He is a running enthusiast, lecturing at an international level, authoring “The Runner’s Guide to a Healthy Core” and is a multiple time contributor to Runner’s World Magazine.
Colin Jones
My name is Colin. I grew up in Scarborough, Maine where I developed a passion for middle distance running. After high school I attended the University of Southern Maine where I ran cross country, indoor track, and outdoor track and earned the William B Wise Scholar Athlete award for all four years . Since graduating college in 2019 I have served as the distance running coach at Scarborough High School during the indoor and outdoor track seasons. During the fall 2021 season I also served as the assistant coach for the high school's cross country team.When I am not running on the roads I am busy running my own business. I enjoy traveling, partaking in southern Maine’s incredible food scene, and spending time in Bridgton, Maine on the lake!
Amanda Nobbe
Amanda began running a few years ago and continues to set new running goals for herself. She hopes to run her first ultra-marathon this year. She loves running Portland's many trails and paths. You can find her at Fleet Feet throughout the week helping customers pick out the perfect pair of running shoes. When not running she is usually in the mountains of New Hampshire and Maine. She is also a huge fan of pro-cycling. Amanda has helped coach the Beginner 5k group and loves helping people discover(or re-discover!) running.
