Run the Sun Challenge

Fleet Feet Sports Run the Sun Challenge

Fleet Feet Sports Run the Sun ChallengeJoin Fleet Feet Sports as we celebrate the Grand Opening of our new location in Sun Prairie on Sunday, September 21, 2014. As part of our Grand Opening celebration, we will be having a relay from our west side location to our new location. Participants can choose to either walk, run or bike as a team or as an individual. In fact, participants can go from the west side store to the Sun Prairie store any way they’d like as long as it doesn’t include a motorized vehicle.

Run to Sun Challenge "suggested" Mapped Route

Note: You are allowed to go however you choose, but this is the shortest route between locations. The one part of this route that we would highly recommend to runners and cyclists is that this route is the best way to cross the I94/90/39 Interstate.

  • Check in begins at 1:00 pm on Sept. 21 at the west side store location (8440 Old Sauk Rd)
  • Participants can choose any route from the starting location to our new Sun Prairie location (2828 Prairie Lakes Dr #106), but they must “check-in” at 5 different check points along the route
  • Participants must also obey all traffic laws
  • Participants need to provide their own hydration and nutrition, although some nutrition will be supplied at Orange Shoe Personal Fitness Downtown (water, gels).

The 5 check points are:

  1. Oscar Rennebohm Park (N Eau Claire Ave. & Regent St.)
  2. Brittingham Park along Monona Bay (401 Brittingham Place)
  3. Orange Shoe Personal Fitness (1 E. Main St. on the square)
  4. Tenney Park (on E. Johnson St.)
  5. Home Depot East – parking lot (2425 E. Springs Dr.)

Check Points

  • Participants must take a photo at each check point in order to check-in
  • Photos can be posted to social media with #ffrunthesun.
  • For relay teams, the check points are also the transition points to change runners (you can drive to drop off and pick up relay runners)

Once the store closes for regular business on Sunday at 5:00 pm, we are inviting the relay participants, our customers, friends and family to stick around for the Grand Opening Party at our Sun Prairie store. Snacks and drinks will be provided. Also, even though the Run the Sun Challenge is not a race, prizes will be randomly awarded to individuals and teams.

We are running, walking and biking for a cause.

We ask for a minimum donation of $5 for each person participating in the Run the Sun Challenge. 100% of the proceeds are being donated to Mikayla's Grace.

“Mikayla’s Grace was started by Mike and Melissa Terrill in March of 2011 and is inspired by their two babies. Mikayla’s Grace is our way of giving back to our community, and keeping our babies’ spirits and memory alive, while helping other families. Our goal is to give comfort and support to parents who find themselves in the stressful situations we were in.” – mikaylasgrace.com

Fleet Feet Sports chose this beneficiary because Matt Reller, a FIT professional and inventory controller at Fleet Feet Sports Madison and Sun Prairie, and his wife, Amanda loss their son Frank in 2012. Through support and programs like Mikayla’s Grace, they knew they were not alone and could share their story with others who were grieving. Now Frank has a little sister to watch over, her name is Ruth. Read Matt's Blog for the rest of his story.
