Every great movement begins with a simple decision—the choice to
step forward and make a difference in your community.
By donating your new and gently used shoes to WaterStep, you’ll help fund safe drinking water projects all over the world — projects that help to save hundreds of thousands of lives each year. In addition to funding water projects, donated shoes keep hundreds of tons of waste out of our landfills. We accept gently used shoes that are free of mold/mildew. Athletic shoes are preferred, but we will accept all styles of shoes. Shoes are sold to an exporter and funds received help bring clean water to those in need.
Wayside Christian Mission
"The purpose of the Wayside Christian Mission is to respond to the human need of the poor and homeless by (1) providing temporary housing/shelter, food, clothing, nurturing, spiritual and social enrichment, encouragement and referrals (2) and by providing the support services and skills that would permit and encourage a return to a state of self-sufficiency so that human dignity can be restored and the love of God can be shared."
St. John Center
St. John Center is on a mission to help people experiencing homelessness address the barriers to housing and self-sufficiency so they can leave homelessness for good.
With the support of this community, we’ve been providing resources and services for those experiencing homelessness in the Louisville area since 1986. We are located in a former Catholic church built in the 1850s as a safe haven for immigrants. Today, our staff and volunteers carry on that welcoming spirit to provide refuge to some of our community’s most vulnerable people.
Innocence Project
The Kentucky Innocence Project is a non-profit organization dedicated to freeing innocent people who have been wrongfully convicted in the state of Kentucky.
Sleep In Heavelny Peace
Child bedlessness is what we call a “hidden crisis.” You might not see it in your neighborhood, but it’s there. Research shows that 2-3% of children nationwide don’t have a bed of their own. That’s hundreds of thousands of kids sleeping on floors, couches, or sharing beds with siblings or caregivers every single night.
Dream Factory
The Dream Factory is a national children's wish-granting organization. We grant dreams to kids with critical and chronic medical conditions aged 3-18. Our National Office is in Louisville and we currently have 32 chapters spread across the country, though we are expanding into potentially eight new communities in the next 12-18 months. Because we only have four employees across the entire country, and 100% volunteers at the local levels, more than 95% of donations go toward our mission. We are super proud of this! We've been granting dreams since 1980.
Chirchills Lighthouse
In 2016, God placed a vision in our hearts — a vision to create a safe haven for women, mothers, and children in need of love, stability, and hope. What began as a dream called Churchill’s House of Hope was rooted in prayer and a deep belief that God would provide the way, even when we couldn’t see it yet.
Through seasons of waiting, refining, and trusting, we learned that faith is not about seeing the entire path—it’s about taking the next step with God leading the way. Every delay had a divine purpose. Every “not yet” was shaping our hearts for the “now.”
In 2023, after years of prayer and perseverance, we received a miracle — a house was donated to our ministry! That moment was a powerful reminder that God never forgets His promises. It was also the beginning of transformation.
In 2024, God impressed upon our hearts to make a change — to walk fully in His new direction and rename our ministry from Churchill’s House of Hope to Churchill’s Lighthouse Inc. The name reflects what we’ve always been called to be: a light in the darkness, guiding mothers and families toward healing, faith, and purpose.
Then came another answered prayer. In 2025, we were awarded a $125,000 grant to completely renovate our houses — proof that when God ordains a vision, He also provides the provision. Every wall, every room, every space will soon shine as a reflection of His love and restoration.
And in 2026, we will celebrate the Grand Opening of Churchill’s Lighthouse Inc., a sanctuary dedicated to pregnant women and first-time moms — a place where faith meets action, hope meets housing, and lives are transformed by the power of God’s love.
Through it all, we’ve learned this unshakable truth: God’s timing is perfect. His plan is better. And when you wait on Him, He always exceeds what you imagined.
Our journey is living proof that the power of prayer, patience, and trust in God’s promises leads to miracles. Churchill’s Lighthouse stands as a beacon of that faith — a testimony to what happens when you let go, let God, and let His light shine through you.
Coalition for the Homeless
The mission of the Coalition for the Homeless is to prevent and end homelessness in Louisville through advocacy, education, and the coordination of our 40+ member agencies. We have been the lead advocate for Louisville's homeless since 1986, when we were founded after several people died on Louisville's streets.
The Coalition helps coordinate the efforts of dozens of organizations in our compassionate city who are working with thousands of local homeless and vulnerable individuals. Our partners provide housing, food, clothing, health care, counseling, and legal services to the homeless. Our role is to evaluate the needs of the homeless and of our agencies, to identify and address gaps in services community-wide, and to implement smart, long-term solutions.
