These laces are almost an insider’s secret. I was introduced to them by triathletes who needed to get out of their clip-in bicycle shoes and into their running shoes quickly. I was intrigued because my feet tend to swell and I would have to stop and loosen my shoes after a few miles. With these elastic life savers, all I needed to do was reach down and press a button.
I will admit that I was a little skeptical of using these on my trail running shoes, but I decided to give it a try. My fear was that the laces would not allow the shoe to cinch on my foot enough for the trail. What I found was that they actually just had enough tension to keep my shoe in place, but not so tight that they hurt my instep on the downhills.
