Run your way to your first 40, 100km, or 100 mile finish or improve your current time by joining the Fleet Feet Huntsville Ultramarathon training program. The program is designed for intermediate runners that are looking to accomplish the ultra distance or want to improve their ultramarathon performances. These sessions enhance the training by offering peer support and coaching throughout the program.

Training is for the Blue Heron Hundreds or any other fall ultramarathon.  

Training starts on Memorial Day, May 29, 2023 and ends on Labor Day, September 2, 2023.

Training will be in a hybrid format: personalized schedules will be sent weekly, and we will all meet at least once a month for group long runs. The long runs will be in various locations in North Alabama and the terrain will be paved and/or dirt/gravel roads.  

We will be using the Vdot app for our athletes.  Vdot is a measure of your current running ability.  It assigns a score to all running performances, determines your current training paces, and equates a race time from one distance to another.  The Vdot app makes your training more productive and effective, as you will get more out of your workouts.  The app will help the coaches and mentors better know the type of runner you are and how to maximize your efforts.  Your personal schedule, along with training paces for each workout will be provided in the app.  By syncing your GPS watch or your Strava to the app, your coaches will be able to follow your workout performances, provide feedback, and keep you on the right path. 

Coaches are Rob and Kathy Youngren.

Both coaches are RRCA certified running coaches and have run a combined 300+ ultramarathons.
