Joe Labus
"I started running & racing in 1980. In the early 80’s, I trained with several gifted runners from the Oak Park (Illinois) Runners Club. The emphasis was on mega miles as preparation for racing. 100 mile weeks were not uncommon--not something I would endorse today. Additionally, the Chicago Area Runners Association offered weekly track workouts to members building skills & improving performance. With this foundation, I enjoyed success at various distances, most notably my marathon PB’s 2:46:23 in Chicago & 2:50:00 at Pittsburgh (top 100 finish).
"Personal Best times are in the past. I now focus on finishing 'age appropriate.' The last couple of years I’ve placed in my age group at each race run."
