Introduction to Triathlon Series
Have you always wondered about what exactly a triathlon is, or if you could even attempt one? Like most things, learning more about something gives us confidence to do new things. Our goal for this series is to provide information and encouragement to those new to or interested in the sport of triathlon.
This series will be led by USA Triathlon Ambassador Jeff Haas. Jeff has over 30 years of experience in competitive cycling as well as 15 years in the sport of triathlon, most recently as a member of Team USA at the age-group world championships in Australia last fall.
Session #1 – Introduction to Triathlon (Saturday, June 22, 2019 @ 8:45 am)
In this first session, Jeff will provide an overview of the sport and the various distances, as well as other related multisport event options. Additionally, he will talk about what to look for when choosing a first race and local race options.
Session #2 – The Bike and What to Wear (July 13, 2019 @ 8:45 am)
In session two Jeff will focus on various aspects of the bike portion of triathlon. Deciding on bikes and gear is often one of the biggest areas of concern for people new to the sport; however, it doesn’t have to be as cost-intensive as you may think. In addition, Jeff will cover the basics of clothing for triathlon.
Session #3 – What is a Transition, and Race-Day Tips (August 3, 2019 @ 8:45 am)
In the final part of this series, Jeff will discuss what a transition is and how to make them as easy as possible, as well as provide other race-day tips to make your triathlon enjoyable and efficient.
This series is complimentary, all are welcome to attend!
