Footwear with Care

Footwear with Care (FwC) began as a partnership between Fleet Feet Hartford, the Connecticut Podiatric Medical Association, the Hartford Police Department, and Community Partners in Action. Now FwC is now an independent 501(c)(3) registered nonprofit. FwC is powered by a large and dedicated corps of volunteers from throughout the Greater Hartford area and is supported by donations from individuals, businesses, churches, schools and grants from foundations. 

FwC began in January 2016 when Officer Jimmy Barrett asked Abby Moore, a friend and fellow Fleet Feet customer, if she could get a pair of shoes for a homeless veteran he was helping who only had flip flops despite the bitter CT cold. Abby went to Fleet Feet Hartford, and we donated not one, but forty pairs of shoes to help homeless in Hartford. Fleet Feet Hartford has been a proud supporter of FwC ever since. 

FwC helps provide homeless in Hartford with proper footwear including boots, work shoes, sneakers and socks. They host two yearly clinics where homeless can come and get fitted for a proper pair of shoes and socks, as well as benefit from medical resources and screenings.
