Fleet Feet Sports Fort Mill is pleased to sponsor Run the Mill 15K to support college scholarships for York County high school cross country and track athletes. Registration is open: http://fortmillrunningclub.org/register/
One Day Two Great Races – Both Run the Mill 15K and 7K Preservation Races will Start & Finish at Fort Mill High School. The Fort Mill Running Club is hosting the inaugural “Run the Mill 15K” on Sunday, March 15th, 7:30 am (Start). Run the Mill 15K proceeds will assist one York County, SC high school cross country or track athlete to pay for college. Fort Mill Running Club will award a $1,000 college scholarship to a high school runner. The winning student will be selected based on a short essay written about how the sport of running has enriched their life. The details are listed on the Fort Mill Running Club Website at www.fortmillrunningclub.org.
Fort Mill Running Club will also support children by donating race proceeds to the Children’s Attention Home; which provides emergency shelter for abused, neglected, and abandoned children of South Carolina and the Palmetto School; a K-8 school that integrates the arts to help students improve learning and heal from their Life’s trauma and situation; both are located in Rock Hill, SC.
All the proceeds from the Run the Mill 15K race will be dedicated to these three causes. The 15K route begins with rolling terrain of Fort Mill, down the steep hill on Dam Road, to a gradual incline reaching Hwy 160, into Baxter Village, through the Baxter Tunnel crossing over Market Street and back to Fort Mill High School.
On the same day and location the South Carolina non-profit Citizens for Historic Preservation is hosting a 7K Race (7:45AM Start), which is an out and back route that follows the 15K course. The proceeds will support the Citizens for Historic Preservation; which focuses on increasing the number of historic buildings, places and related landscapes that are protected, preserved, and actively used across North and South Carolina.
These events are focused on supporting the York County Community. Come out & race with us through the beautiful rolling hills of Fort Mill. Both runs are supported by Fleet Feet Sports of Fort Mill.
We thank you in advance for your participation on behalf of the Fort Mill Running Club and the beneficiaries of your participation.
Registration Fee: $45
Run the Mill 15K road race will be on blacktop & concrete surfaces with no rail road tracks to ensure runner safety. Emergency medical services will be available.
