It can be so intimidating to get out there and get started on your fitness journey. The First Steps Walking Program is a perfect place to begin!
This walking-focused group is a great way to learn proper walking techniques and gain healthy habits in a welcoming and inclusive environment. During this 9-week program, participants will build up their endurance, eventually leading them to a 5k walk at the Race for the Arts on August 26th.

Do you have a friend, spouse, sibling who wants to support you? Bring them along! Every participant has the option to bring a friend to each workout.
Kick Off Informational Meeting
Not sure if First Steps is for you? All are welcome to meet the coaches at an informational kick off meeting and optional icebreaker workout on Wednesday, June 28th at 6pm at Fleet Feet Folsom.

We will prepare you for Race for the Arts on August 26th.
The training is designed to increase week to week so you build slowly, steadily, and consistently towards your goals. The Wednesday workouts consist of intensity, such as intervals or hills, to improve your fitness. The Sunday workouts will build endurance towards the goal race distance.
Your training schedule will include activities for you to do on your own throughout the week, which will help you see more progress. If you can’t make it to a workout, you will have the schedule to continue to follow the plan. All workouts are time based, rather than distance based, so that no one is first or last. We all start and finish together.
Coaches and special guests will educate you in person and in the weekly emails on warm ups, mobility, nutrition, hydration, how to prepare for race day, injury prevention, and more. They are also a resource and support for you along the way.
Group Training Atmosphere
Enjoy the safety, accountability, information, and motivation of a coached group workout environment. We also have a private group Facebook page for you to share, communicate, and get motivation from your fellow training members.
